This weekend in Littleton, Colorado gives you two full days of solid options without leaving town, plus a broader metro calendar if you want to range further. The weather is cooperating, the patios are open, and the fall event season is starting to build. Here is a straightforward rundown of what is happening Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13, 2026, organized by day and distance from home.
Saturday, September 12
Southwest Plaza Farmers' Market
Saturday, September 12 | 8:00 AM | Southwest Plaza, Littleton | Free
Colorado farmer-owned and operated since 1977, the Southwest Plaza Farmers' Market is a reliable Saturday morning stop for late-summer produce. Expect Palisade peaches, Olathe corn, roasted green chiles, and local honey alongside baked goods and craft vendors. Arrive early for the best selection. Parking is free and plentiful in the Southwest Plaza lots.
Coffee and a Walk on Main Street
Saturday, September 12 | Morning | Downtown Littleton Main Street | Free to stroll
Start at Cafe Terracotta or the Melting Pot for coffee, then walk Main Street. The historic downtown blocks between Prince Street and Santa Fe Drive are lined with locally owned shops, galleries, and patios that open early on Saturdays. The South Platte River trailhead is a two-minute walk from Main Street if you want to extend the morning with a flat, paved riverside walk.
Aspen Grove: Shopping and Outdoor Events
Saturday, September 12 | All Day | 7301 S. Santa Fe Dr., Littleton | Free to browse
Aspen Grove is Littleton's outdoor lifestyle center along Santa Fe Drive, about five minutes south of Downtown. The open-air layout means you can shop, grab lunch, and walk the promenade without going indoors. Aspen Grove regularly hosts seasonal events on weekends through the fall, including outdoor concerts on the plaza, farmers and artisan markets, and family activity days. Check the Aspen Grove events calendar for the specific Saturday schedule. Parking is free in the surface lots, and the central plaza is paved and accessible.
Chatfield State Park: Trails and Reservoir
Saturday, September 12 | All Day | 10000 N. Roxborough Park Rd., Littleton | State Parks pass or day pass
Chatfield State Park is about 15 minutes south of Downtown Littleton and offers miles of paved and natural-surface trails, the Chatfield Reservoir for paddleboarding and kayaking, and off-leash dog swim areas. September is one of the best months here: the cottonwoods along the Platte start turning gold, the water is still warm enough for paddling, and the afternoon crowds thin out compared to midsummer. A Colorado State Parks pass or $10 day pass is required per vehicle.
Town Hall Arts Center: Fall Season
Saturday, September 12 | Evening | 2450 W. Main St., Littleton | Tickets required
The Town Hall Arts Center on Main Street is a Littleton institution and its fall season is underway. The intimate 240-seat theater produces musicals and plays year-round, and a Saturday evening show pairs naturally with dinner at one of the Main Street restaurants within walking distance. Check the Town Hall website for the current production and showtimes.
Live Music at Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Saturday, September 12 | Evening | Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison | Tickets required
Red Rocks is about 20 minutes from most of Littleton and September is peak concert season. Check the official Red Rocks schedule for the Saturday lineup. For sold-out or near-sold-out shows, the CDOT rideshare lot at Bandimere Speedway on Morrison Road is a more reliable parking option than the on-site lots. Doors typically open 90 minutes before showtime. Bring a layer; evenings cool off quickly at altitude.
Sunday, September 13
Sunday Brunch on Main Street
Sunday, September 13 | Morning | Downtown Littleton | Prices vary
Downtown Littleton has a genuine brunch scene. Cafe Terracotta serves a full breakfast and lunch menu with patio seating, the Melting Pot offers a Sunday brunch fondue experience, and Palenque Cocina Y Tequila pours weekend margaritas alongside its Mexican brunch menu. Walk Main Street after eating and browse the antique shops, bookstores, and galleries that open late on Sunday mornings.
Denver Botanic Gardens: Chihuly Exhibition
Sunday, September 13 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM | 1007 York St., Denver | Admission applies
The Denver Botanic Gardens is about 25 minutes north of Littleton and the Chihuly glass sculpture exhibition is installed throughout the gardens this fall. Hand-blown glass forms are integrated into the plantings and water features, and the effect is different in morning light versus late afternoon. Timed entry tickets are recommended and available on the Botanic Gardens website. The gardens are accessible with paved paths throughout.
Denver Art Museum: Free First Saturday Weekend
Sunday, September 13 | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM | 100 W. 14th Ave. Parkway, Denver | Check for current free day
The Denver Art Museum offers free admission days throughout the year, and its fall exhibitions include contemporary Indigenous art and a traveling architecture design show. The building itself, designed by Daniel Libeskind, is worth the visit. Check the DAM website to confirm whether this Sunday qualifies for a free day and to reserve timed entry. The museum is about 25 minutes north of Littleton via Santa Fe Drive.
Roxborough State Park: Red Rock Hiking
Sunday, September 13 | All Day | 4751 E. Roxborough Dr., Roxborough | State Parks pass or day pass
Roxborough State Park is about 25 minutes south of Littleton and offers some of the most dramatic red rock formations in the front range. The Fountain Valley Trail is a 2.3-mile loop that winds through the centerpiece valley and is moderate enough for most hikers. The park is a designated National Natural Landmark and has a small visitor center. Arrive before 10:00 AM on weekends; the parking lot fills and the park temporarily closes to entry when it does.
Afternoon Patio and Local Breweries
Sunday, September 13 | Afternoon | Littleton and Englewood | Prices vary
The Littleton and Englewood area has a concentrated brewery and patio scene. Sterling Ranch Brewing in Roxborough, Living The Dream Brewing in Englewood, and 38 State Brewing in Englewood all have outdoor seating and Sunday hours. Pair a flight with a food truck and make an afternoon of it. The South Platte River trail connects several of these spots if you want to bike between them.
Practical Notes for the Weekend
- Weather: Mid-September in Littleton typically brings sunny days in the 70s and cool evenings in the 50s. Afternoon thunderstorms are less common than in July and August but still possible. Check the forecast and bring a layer for evening plans, especially at Red Rocks or Roxborough.
- Parking Downtown: The city lots on Prince Street and Alamo Avenue are free on weekends and are the closest reliable parking to Main Street. Street parking along Main Street itself fills by mid-morning on Saturdays.
- State Parks passes: Both Chatfield and Roxborough require a Colorado State Parks pass ($10 day pass or annual pass). Roxborough's lot fills by late morning on weekends; arrive early or have a backup plan.
- Tickets: Red Rocks, Town Hall Arts Center, and the Denver Botanic Gardens all recommend advance tickets. Walk-up availability is not guaranteed for weekend shows and timed-entry exhibits.
- RTD Light Rail: The D Line and C Line serve Downtown Littleton at the Littleton Downtown Station. If you are heading into Denver for the Art Museum or Botanic Gardens, the light rail is a reliable alternative to driving and parking downtown.
Enjoy the Weekend
Littleton has a genuinely good weekend going on right at home, and the broader Denver metro adds depth if you want to travel further. From the Saturday farmers' market to Sunday brunch on Main Street and a hike at Roxborough, there are two days worth of solid options at a range of budgets and energy levels.
